Lecture with Fatima AlZahra’a Alatraktchi: Bacteria and business

A scientist’s journey into entrepreneurship

Bacteria has a social life. They speak with one another. They cooperate. They fight against on another. In many ways, the life of bacteria life is very similar to a human life. Fatima Alatraktchi researches bacteria’s communication and explains how bacteria inspired her to start her own tech company which she called PreDiagnose. She invented a sensor which shows whether you have an infection long before the doctors even know of it.

In her lecture she presents scientific examples of how bacteria behaves as a society. What makes their society function and what makes it disfunction – and how we can transfer and translate their messages to our own lives.

Science has answers and bacteria give us some answers of how different events and situations can develop for us. In the lecture, Fatima Alatraktchi also shares her entrepreneurial story about how she decided to start her own company – also although she had much rather continue in research.

Bacteria speak to one another – and one wonders that and it seems that we all can learn something from what bacteria are trying to tell us about our lives. Be inspired by Fatima Alatraktchi’s personal journey as a researcher and entrepreneur. A lecture anyone can learn from – no matter what industry you find yourself in.
