Professor Jan Damsgaard is Head of the Department of Digitalisation at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. In the latest ranking, the “Top Rankings of Schools in Bo8 journals”, covering the past three years, the Department of Digitalisation has been awarded number one in Europe and number 13 worldwide. Jan Damsgaard’s personal research focuses on the business aspects of digitalisation and disruption including platform economics, IoT and Big Data.
Jan Damsgaard is also a member of the Danish Government´s “Disruption Council” which is headed by the Danish Prime Minster along with 7 Cabinet Ministers and 30 representatives from leading Danish institutions and companies. In 2014, the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences appointed Jan Damsgaard as “National Digital Advisor”. In these functions Jan Damsgaard contributes to the digital agenda in Denmark.
In the book “ the digital adaption – nine radical challenges the business sector must survive” (Publisher: DJØF) Jan Damsgaard provides the reader with a thorough overview and a deep understanding of the smashing digital development.
As board member of three start-ups which builds on a platform economy, Jan Damsgaard contributes to making digital strategies in Danish companies. Jan Damsgaard is also a member of the board in Autoproff A/S which is the biggest B2B platform for trade with used car is in the auto industry. Jan Damsgaard is also a board member in Julian holding II A/S which invests in a number of big restaurants according to the platform concept “street food”. Finally, Jam Damsgaard serves as board member in IoT Denmark A/S which leaves the Sigfox-network in Denmark – the first global network dedicated to IoT “Internet of Things”. Jan Damsgaard furthermore, undertakes consultancy tasks for companies and institutions.
Jan Damsgaard is often used as lecturer, while he is also a returning supporter of the High Performance Institute, the Society of Boards in Denmark and CBS Executive.
